JOB DESCRIPTION

About Us

American Experiments is a cultural communications and production house dedicated to reaching young, news-avoidant audiences across the new American media landscape. Since 2020, we have organized and grown a network of creators, celebrities, podcasters, and other communicators who deliver persuasive, progressive, and pro-democratic content into our audience’s newsfeeds every day. We believe that all actions, political or otherwise, are downstream from cultural attitudes, and focusing on cultural-first media will empower our movement to rebuild a winning coalition.

Position Overview

We are seeking a culturally fluent, relationship-driven ** Senior Media Partnerships Manager** with approximately** 6-8+ years of experience** to expand our reach across both political and cultural media ecosystems. This role sits at the intersection of digital media, political communications, and audience strategy — building authentic partnerships with podcasts, digital-first shows, and other new media creators, equipping trusted messengers, and finding organic entry points into cultural conversations that matter to our mission.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and manage a diverse portfolio of relationships with new media creators — YouTube hosts, podcasters, streamers, newsletter writers, and cultural figures — spanning both political and non-political spaces.

  • Identify cultural media spaces and figures whose audiences intersect with our issues and develop strategies to organically integrate political and issue-based conversations into those environments.

  • Develop and maintain a robust network of progressive messengers, surrogates, and advocates; manage those relationships directly and coordinate across staff and partners who hold their own valuable relationships.

  • Lead end-to-end interview and placement preparation: brief guests on the host, audience, and format; work with others on the team to create and deliver message guidance grounded in research and polling as needed; and prepare hosts and producers with compelling angles and context.

  • Apply knowledge of messaging research and best practices to ensure our surrogates are communicating with clarity, resonance, and consistency across placements.

  • Pitch and place communicators, content, and narratives with new media outlets; track coverage and measure impact.

  • Monitor the new media landscape — political and cultural — for emerging voices, trending conversations, and timely partnership opportunities.

  • Activate the network quickly and effectively during rapid-response moments.

Qualifications

  • 6–8+ years of experience in communications, media relations, political communications, or a related field, including demonstrated experience in new or digital media.

  • Deep familiarity with the new media landscape across both political and cultural spaces; ideally this person already has pre-existing relationships with players in this field.

  • Ability to identify and navigate cultural media environments where issue-based conversations can be introduced organically, without feeling forced or out of place.

  • Experience working with messengers, surrogates, or advocacy networks; proven ability to not just maintain your own relationships but to manage other people with valuable networks and get productive work out of those relationships.

  • Strong understanding of messaging research and best practices, including how to apply polling, message testing, and audience insight to real-world communications.

  • Experience leading interview preparation for both surrogates and media partners, including crafting briefing materials, message guidance, and host prep.

  • Exceptional networking instincts, not just building a rolodex of relationships but developing real trust that leads to mutually beneficial outcomes.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication that can translate into strong pitches and storytelling.

  • Interest or experience in political, progressive, nonprofit, or advocacy spaces.

  • Collaborative, respectful, proactive, and excited to build power for the progressive movement.

Compensation & Benefits

The salary range for this position is $100,000–$120,000 annually, commensurate with experience. This is a full-time, salaried, exempt, remote position.

We offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes:

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance, with 100% of employee premiums and 70% of dependent premiums covered by the organization

  • Life insurance for employees

  • 401(k) retirement account, with immediate eligibility upon hire (no employer match at this time)

  • Unlimited paid time off; we encourage all employees to take a minimum of 20 days per year in addition to paid holidays

This is a cycle hire role running through December 31, 2026. Continuation beyond that date may be considered based on organizational need, but is not guaranteed.
