SENIOR SOCIAL JUSTICE ORGANIZER
Position Overview
The Senior Social Justice Organizer serves as an assistant to the Social Justice Director. The Senior Social Justice Organizer organizes activists nationwide. They have primary responsibility for growing the Democracy Circles program including public presentations, convener on-boarding and support, managing organizational partners, and resource development. They track organizing goals nationwide, and foster communication and collaboration among the organizers toward that end.
The Social Justice Organizer will build relationships with ally organizations and coalitions to advance our work on democracy and voting rights in order to advance worker rights, economic justice, immigrant rights and racial justice. They oversee Workers Circle’s phonebanking, textbanking, and postcarding including promotion, recruitment, execution, and managing of partner relationships and material resources. They will support Workers Circle’s Demand Democracy/Fight Fascism campaign, including organizing for in-person and online actions. Further, the Social Justice Organizer will assist in developing and executing a variety of virtual and in-person events that revolve around social justice.
The Social Justice Organizer will assist the Workers Circle grant writer with preparing grants for funds to power the College Network. Further, they will work with the Marketing and Communications Manager to craft posts and engage on social media with a focus on social justice and the Workers Circle’s history of activism.
Beginning in July 2024, the Social Justice Organizer will have primary responsibility for overseeing and growing the College Network and young adult social justice and cultural programming and activism, supervising the interns serving as College Organizers, and fostering young adult presence at the annual Trip to Yiddishland in August.
The Social Justice Organizer will advance the progressive values and vision of the Workers Circle. They must be able to assist in translating our approach to Jewish social justice using excellent interpersonal and communication skills as well as tailored, outreach approaches to build communities of activists.
This position reports to the Social Justice Director. Additional duties may be required at the employer’s discretion. The position requires attendance at all Workers Circle events and actions which may take place at any time of the day. This is an exempt, full-time, union position, based in New York. Compensation $70,000-80,000 depending on experience plus excellent benefits package.

· Vacation: Each employee who shall have been employed for six (6) months but less than one (1) year by July 1st shall receive one (1) weeks’ vacation with pay. Each employee who has been employed between one year and two years shall receive two (2) weeks' vacation with pay. Each employee who shall have been employed for three (3) years but less than 10 years, shall receive three (3) weeks’ vacation with pay per year. Each employee who shall have been employed for ten (10) years or more shall receive four (4) weeks' vacation with pay per year. Employees may carry over unused vacation days to the following year to be used by no later than August 30
· Union employees receive 5 personal days per year
· Sick Days: 12 sick days per year. Employees may carry over 5 unused sick days and bank up to no more than 20 unused sick days in any given year
· An annual 4% increase through September 1, 2025, pursuant to the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) for Union employees

Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Director of Social Justice the senior social justice organizer will
· Supervise interns and grow the College Network and young adult membership in Workers Circle in size and depth of involvement
· Grow the Democracy Circles program, increasing organizational partners and grassroots circles
· Oversee phonebanking, postcarding, and textbanking
· Help initiate and develop campaigns and actions externally
· Assist in the planning and execution of campaigns and actions, including being lead coordinator for on-the-ground actions taken or participated in by the Workers Circle
· Ongoing cultivation of Workers Circle members’ involvement in social justice activism
· Develop social justice-related events
· Create materials as needed
· Develop social media content as related to social justice
· Database and track involvement and impact
· Be the principal engagement person for the social justice team on social media
· Attend relevant programs of the Jewish Social Justice Roundtable and key meetings of partners in our social justice work.
The ideal candidate will possess:
5-10 years of experience in start-up or grassroots, base-building organizing
Fluent navigator of Jewish cultures and identities
Proven track-record of multi-cultural work
Self-starter and accomplished project manager
Excellent public speaking and writing skills
Comfort working with and relating to remote colleagues
Experience working with college students a plus
Agility in Mobilize, Action Network, Bonterra, Google suite, and MS Office suite
