Vote Mama builds the political power of moms. Vote Mama PAC is the first PAC in the country dedicated to supporting Democratic moms running for office up and down the ballot and across the country. Vote Mama Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization, is the leading source of research and advocacy on moms' political participation and works to break the structural barriers they face when running for and serving in elected office. Vote Mama Lobby, a 501(c)(4) organization, mobilizes fed-up mamas to take action by electing moms and passing truly family-friendly legislation.
About the Role
The Social Media Associate is responsible for engaging various audiences online in support of Vote Mama’s mission. The Associate will manage the creation of social media content, focusing on X (Formerly Twitter), Threads, Instagram, and emerging media platforms, ensuring the content reflects core values around racial equity and diversity. The Social Media Associate will drive organizational content and strategy in all Digital Communications to uplift the organization's vision and brand.
The ideal candidate for this position is an expert at creating quippy content for social media and managing multiple streams of content, each with a distinct voice and strategy. You nerd out on new media opportunities and support the evolution of digital strategy based on new and emerging trends.
The Social Media Associate will report to the Digital and Creative Director, and will be a part of the Digital team in the Communications Department.
Required Skills for this Role
2+ years managing social media for a political advocacy organization
Experience creating written, graphic, and video content for social media
Experience planning, writing, scheduling, and monitoring content for social media channels
Strong command of the organization’s vision and brand, with an understanding of how to adjust the tone and scope of information for varying audiences
Ability to distill complex information into digestible content to engage audiences around the organization’s mission
Basic knowledge of Adobe In-Design and Google Sheets
Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies quickly
Commitment to Vote Mama’s goals and theory of change, passion for grassroots organizing, and commitment to progressive policy change, as well as deep dedication to the mission
Must be creative, strategic, collaborative, and organized, with keen attention to detail
Ability to work independently and to exercise sound judgment and discretion – with a knack for quickly moving in a strategic direction

Experience with paid digital advertising
Experience in graphic design or video editing

Core Responsibilities
Digital Engagement
Manage and execute social media copy-writing for Vote Mama’s social media streams, including the Founder and CEO’s social media accounts.
Collaborate closely with team members to translate policy ideas and research findings into communication campaigns.
Coordinate as needed with communications contractors/consultants
Responding to DMs on social media platforms
Coordinating with partners and recruiting influencers to amplify social media content
Strategy Execution and Development
Work with team members to better understand and cultivate an audience to mobilize around Vote Mama’s priorities.
Stay up to date on social media and digital engagement best practices; make changes to documented processes.
Support excellent cross-team collaboration and strategy development.
A typical day
On a typical day, the Social Media Associate will draft content for several organizational and organizational leadership’s social media streams, navigating the ever-changing landscape of X (formerly Twitter), Threads, Instagram and new emerging media. You’ll collaborate with the Digital team to ensure consistent messaging across all platforms that elevate the mission and strategy of the organization and the candidates it supports.

Salary:$65,000-$75,000
