Pat Ryan for Congress is seeking a market-ing-minded and hardworking Social Media Manager. In 2024, Rep. Pat Ryan (NY-18) won a tough frontline district by 13%, the highest battleground overperformance by a Democrat nationwide. We’re building the team we’ll need to win again in 2026. We are able to be flexible (especially in terms of timeline) for the right candidate, though we expect that this position will start in Q2 of 2025.
Responsibilities
Working closely with the Communications Director, manage Rep. Ryan’s digital program and brand on social media, shifting as the digital landscape shifts during the cycle
Work closely with the Finance Director to execute a robust digital fundraising operation – which can include email, texting, and social media – which is consistent with our tone and message
Develop copy and content for digital platforms, including social posts, graphics, scripts, and video, that are consistent in tone and reach our target audiences. Help to record, edit, and post photo and video content.
Approach the digital program with a marketing mindset, with a focus on how to best connect with audience segments via a variety of channels
Monitor the news and social media for potential rapid response moments across platforms
Create and maintain a digital plan and trackers to monitor key metrics against goals
Staff the Congressman at events and capture photos/video from events
Other responsibilities as needed
Required Qualifications
At least 2 years of similar or transferrable experience. Familiarity with social media trends and best practices; and a dedication to creating content accessible to people of all backgrounds and abilities. Platform familiarity with: Facebook, Twitter/X, Instagram, TikTok, etc
Working knowledge of a CRM (such as NGP) or other database software and willingness to quickly learn new programs.
Strong familiarity/comfort with Google Sheets
Confident and clear communicator who can design and articulate a broad vision. Team player, able to work in a fast-paced environment, take direction, and execute on tasks
Strong writer, able to quickly adapt to a principal’s voice and message
Detail-oriented and able to meet deadlines and track projects closely
Driver's license and access to a car
Desired Qualifications:
Experience creating and/or managing a social media calendar
Graphic design, video production, or other creative competencies
Experience with digital fundraising including email and text programs
Campaign experience is a plus but is not strictly required – transferrable experience in marketing, social media, and digital for other brands/principals will be strongly considered
This is a full-time position that will be based in Washington, DC in 2025 and may require relocation to the Hudson Valley (NY) in 2026, with a competitive salary range of $5,000-6,000 a month plus health benefits. Applications will be considered on a rolling basis, and the start date is flexible.
