Position Overview
This role will edit short-form video content for Alaska’s 2026 statewide ballot campaign to defend the state’s campaign finance, open primaries, and ranked-choice voting system from repeal. The Video Editor will work with footage captured across the state and turn it into platform-ready content for social media. The Video Editor is responsible for delivering a steady stream of edited content on tight timelines.
This role does not require prior campaign experience. It is well suited for someone with strong editing skills and a clear understanding of how content performs on social media.
Key Responsibilities
Video Editing
Edit short-form video content for social media platforms.
Cut interviews, b-roll, and field footage into clear, concise videos.
Apply captions, basic graphics, and formatting for mobile viewing.
Ensure consistency in style, pacing, and quality across content.
Content Optimization
Adapt videos for different platforms and formats.
Refine edits based on performance data and team feedback.
Support testing of different cuts, hooks, and formats
Workflow & File Management
Organize footage and project files for efficient editing.
Maintain clear version control across edits.
Manage project timelines and meet deadlines.
Coordinate with producers and team members to receive and deliver assets.
Desired Qualifications
We are seeking candidates who meet several of the following criteria:
Editing Experience — You have experience editing short-form video content.
Social Media Awareness — You understand pacing, hooks, and formats that perform on social platforms.
Editing Tools — You are proficient in tools such as Premiere Pro, Final Cut, CapCut, or similar. Familiarity with Wrike is preferred, but not required.
Speed & Efficiency — You can produce clean edits on tight timelines.
Attention to Detail — You ensure accuracy in captions, formatting, and final outputs.
Independent Work Style — You can manage your workload and meet deadlines with minimal oversight.
Additional Skills
Experience with captioning and motion graphics
Familiarity with social media
Comfort working with remote team
