JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Overview

This role will edit short-form video content for Alaska’s 2026 statewide ballot campaign to defend the state’s campaign finance, open primaries, and ranked-choice voting system from repeal. The Video Editor will work with footage captured across the state and turn it into platform-ready content for social media. The Video Editor is responsible for delivering a steady stream of edited content on tight timelines.

This role does not require prior campaign experience. It is well suited for someone with strong editing skills and a clear understanding of how content performs on social media.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Video Editing

  • Edit short-form video content for social media platforms.

  • Cut interviews, b-roll, and field footage into clear, concise videos.

  • Apply captions, basic graphics, and formatting for mobile viewing.

  • Ensure consistency in style, pacing, and quality across content.

 

Content Optimization

  • Adapt videos for different platforms and formats.

  • Refine edits based on performance data and team feedback.

  • Support testing of different cuts, hooks, and formats

 

Workflow & File Management

  • Organize footage and project files for efficient editing.

  • Maintain clear version control across edits.

  • Manage project timelines and meet deadlines.

  • Coordinate with producers and team members to receive and deliver assets.

 

Desired Qualifications

We are seeking candidates who meet several of the following criteria:

  • Editing Experience — You have experience editing short-form video content.

  • Social Media Awareness — You understand pacing, hooks, and formats that perform on social platforms.

  • Editing Tools — You are proficient in tools such as Premiere Pro, Final Cut, CapCut, or similar. Familiarity with Wrike is preferred, but not required.

  • Speed & Efficiency — You can produce clean edits on tight timelines.

  • Attention to Detail — You ensure accuracy in captions, formatting, and final outputs.

  • Independent Work Style — You can manage your workload and meet deadlines with minimal oversight.

 

Additional Skills

  • Experience with captioning and motion graphics

  • Familiarity with social media 

  • Comfort working with remote team
