Abdul for Senate is seeking talented candidates to work as a Special Assistant to the Candidate for the 2026 election cycle. We are looking for passionate, hardworking individuals who are committed to our mission of electing Abdul El-Sayed our next U.S. Senator.
Role Overview:
The Special Assistant to the Candidate is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day execution of the calendar’s schedule. This will be a full time position based in Ann Arbor, MI, although there is flexibility with remote work and a relocation timeline. This position offers compensation in the form of a monthly salary and healthcare benefits.
Responsibilities:
Executing the Candidate’s schedule by driving and staffing the Candidate daily
Working closely with the Senior Staff to ensure goals of the campaign are being met while on the road
Relaying information from meetings and events to relevant staff as needed
Maintaining the campaign vehicle as needed
Other campaign needs as required
Qualifications (Required):
Driver’s license
Must have transportation to attend events as needed
Proficiency with Excel and Google Drive
Willingness to work irregular hours including some nights and weekends.
Superior written and verbal communication skills
Ability to learn new skills and take on new challenges, with a desire to learn and a willingness to ask questions
Ability to balance between competing priorities in a fast-paced, demanding environment while maintaining exceptional organization and attention to detail
Commitment to electing Abdul El-Sayed to the U.S. Senate
Ability to demonstrate multicultural competence – the awareness, knowledge and skills needed to work with others who are culturally different from self in meaningful, relevant and productive ways
Personal and professional commitment to promoting and investing in cross-cultural skills and awareness related to individuals from broad backgrounds, races, ethnicities, religions, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity and disability
Qualifications (Preferred):
Defensive Driving certificate significant plus
Experience directly managing/staffing a principal is a significant plus
Previous experience working in Michigan is a significant plus
