JOB DESCRIPTION

The Christopher Street Project (CSP) was founded in January 2025 in response to the escalating political attacks on trans people. CSP envisions a future in America where trans rights are never up for negotiation. CSP builds and leverages collective power for transgender people across the country. We work to hold policymakers accountable on their commitments to trans people, and fight back against attacks on our existence.

 

Role: Summer Internship 

Reports to: Deputy Executive Director 

Compensation: $17.50 per hour 

Term: June 1st - August 31st, 2026

Classification: Part-time, limited-term

 

Internship Overview: 

Christopher Street Project is hiring Summer Interns to support both programmatic and fundraising efforts of the organization. Application to the Internship Program is competitive, and an ongoing interest in public policy, grassroots organizing, and fundraising is strongly recommended. Applicants must have strong interpersonal, writing, and computer skills, the ability to manage multiple tasks and take initiative, and strong organizational skills. The ideal applicant may have previous organizing experience and familiarity with EveryAction is recommended but not required.

 

Christopher Street Project internships are part-time, paid at $17.50/hour for the summer term. Christopher Street Project is happy to work with students to gain college credit for their internship experience. The internship is 8-10 hours maximum per week and is primarily remote. Applicants located within the DMV area will be prioritized. Personal experience with the issue area is strongly preferred.

 

General Responsibilities:

  • Assist in contacting and recruiting event participants and volunteers.

  • Help maintain records of affiliate staff and activities.

  • Research and develop resources and toolkits for volunteers.

  • Research potential partner organizations and organizing networks.

  • Attend coalition meetings and affiliate webinars.

  • Help maintain CRM and website.

  • Report relevant data on website and fundraising initiatives.

  • Research potential marketing ideas.

  • Aid in drafting and calendaring of marketing materials.

  • Assist with ad hoc mobilization and marketing initiatives.

  • Update legislative tracking materials.

  • Other duties as assigned

 

Fundraising Responsibilities: 

  • Support prospecting and screening for fundraising

  • Help maintain development and fundraising records

  • Research and develop resources for leadership fundraising

  • Develop material for call time 

  • Assist in contacting and recruiting fundraising event attendees and guests. 

  • Other development duties as assigned

 

Compensation: 

  • $17.50 per hour with a maximum of 10 hours per week

  • Sick time eligible
