JOB DESCRIPTION

About Get Free

Get Free is a new organization building a youth-led movement to repair past harms, remove ongoing barriers to equality, and realize a future where freedom is for all. Since we launched our movement in late 2023, we’ve won historic reparations commissions in states like New York, grown over a dozen chapters in cities and college campuses across the country, and recently anchored over 100 actions on a national day of action ahead of America’s 250th to advance reckoning, repair, and equality over erasure.

We are rapidly building out our organizing and campaign team as we prepare for big moves and plans to unleash a deeper reckoning with white supremacist rule in our country and make our repair mandate a political priority ahead of the 2028 election.

About the positions

In the coming months, we are hoping to add more capacity as we prepare to grow our existing pods and seeding/supporting new ones, level up our leaders to run winning campaigns to advance civil rights and equality in a hostile and authoritarian political climate, and conduct both a c3 program pressuring elected leaders to act on civil rights and a c4 campaign going into the 2028 election pressuring candidates in a race for repair.

We are looking to fill the following capacities and competencies for our expanded organizing and campaign team, so the final organizing and campaign team we hire across three positions will depend upon the final pool of candidates we consider. When applying, please share your experience in one or more of the key competencies below:

  • Developing new organizers: We are seeking candidates with experience coaching, developing, and moving new volunteer leaders  into driving and owning their pods and local campaigns. • Building infrastructure for distributed organizing: We are looking for those who have distributed organizing experience and who can build out and maintain infrastructure for mobilizing wide public calls to action, absorbing new young leaders into our movement at key moments, and sustaining our online to offline pipeline for supporters.

  • Rapid response instincts and strategic campaigning: We are looking to bring on organizers with experience seizing key moments and opportunities for our campaigns and with a proven history of developing and executing winning national and local campaigns.

  • Coordinating mobilizations: We are seeking candidates who can plan and execute both large-scale national mobilizations and more surgical, rapid response direct actions.

  • Managing Campaigns & Programs: We are looking for candidates who have experience running campaigns and programs successfully with proven record of campaign victories and/or building programs that have scaled capacity for organizations both in number of volunteer leaders and skills developed by volunteer leaders.
