JOB DESCRIPTION

Training Director - The Wisco Project

The great swing state of Wisconsin often feels like the center of the political and public policy universe, especially during an election year. Major outcomes from abortion rights to voting access often ride on just how many Wisconsinites decide to stay home or show up at the polls. A lot of pressure, right?

Luckily, Wisconsin has a super power: it’s young voters. Over 300,000 college students call Wisconsin home – ** when we organize on campuses, students vote. **

Building on work started during the April 2023 Supreme Court Election, we’re building a scrappy and innovative organization that will organize and inspire thousands of college students to vote in the 2024 elections.

What Will You Do?

The Training Director will design, implement, and oversee comprehensive training programs for our staff and volunteers. This role involves developing curriculum, facilitating training sessions, and routinely evaluating the effectiveness of training initiatives to ensure our team is well-prepared to execute our organizing strategy and engage voters effectively.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Design training programs to expand skills in organizing techniques, management best practices, and software use (including VAN, Mobilize, Google Workspace, and Empower)

  • Lead and facilitate training sessions using a variety of instructional methods to engage participants and promote learning.

  • Create and update training materials, including manuals and digital resources, ensuring content is accurate, relevant, and aligned with programmatic objectives.

  • Assess the effectiveness of training programs through feedback, assessments, and performance metrics. Communicate these results up to necessary managers.

  • Work closely with department heads, Regional Organizing Directors, and other key stakeholders to identify training needs and ensure alignment with overall programmatic strategies.

  • Be readily available during GOTV to address training gaps across the state.

  • Provide ongoing support and mentorship to staff and volunteers, offering guidance and resources to help them succeed in their roles.

  • Stay current with best practices in training and development, incorporating new techniques and technologies to enhance learning experiences.

  • All other duties as assigned.

Who Are You?

A successful candidate for this role will:

  • Have a passion for progressive politics and inspiring young people to get involved

  • Extensive experience with VAN and preferably Mobilize, relational tools, and additional organizing tools. Background in training and/or at least 2 cycles of campaign experience preferred.

  • Excellent presentation, communication, and facilitation skills. Ability to create engaging and impactful training materials and experiences.

  • Strong leadership abilities with a focus on mentoring and supporting team members. Experience managing training teams or coordinating training efforts.

  • Skilled in evaluating training effectiveness and making data-driven improvements. Proficient in using training evaluation tools and techniques.

  • Highly organized, proactive, and adaptable. Able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Job Details: Compensation for this role starts at $7,000/month plus benefits. This is a full time role with a target start date ASAP and end date of November 2024.
