JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Description:

The Democratic Party of New Mexico is seeking a dedicated Tribal Outreach Organizer to spearhead voter education and registration initiatives across New Mexico’s Tribal communities and towns with significant Native American populations. The insights gathered and networks built through this role will be pivotal for the party's and candidates' success in the 2024 election and beyond. Strengthening our relationship with Tribal communities is a top priority for the Democratic Party of New Mexico and the 2024 coordinated campaign.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead volunteer mobilization efforts, including voter contact through phone banking, text banking, and canvassing.

  • Engage in relational organizing by collaborating with Tribal communities, leaders, organizers, and personal networks.

  • Develop professional relationships with Tribal community members, leaders, and governments.

  • Promote the Democratic Party of New Mexico’s message within Tribal communities.

  • Represent the Democratic Party of New Mexico in a professional and respectful manner.

  • Mobilize consistent volunteer and voter registration efforts.

  • Educate voters about the voting process and statewide election participation.

  • Compile and organize data and information regarding Tribal communities.

  • Maintain access to reliable transportation, a smartphone, and a computer.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Preference for NM Tribal members residing in the community where they will organize.

  • Highly motivated and eager to engage with community members.

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred.

  • Experience working for or volunteering on political campaigns is highly preferred but not required.

  • Fluency or experience with native languages spoken in New Mexico is appreciated but not required.
