Virginia Maloney for City Council seeks a passionate and dedicated design fellow to lead our campaign’s social media content creation process. The ideal candidate will be passionate about design, politics, and visual communication. You will be tasked with translating the campaign's goals and messaging into compelling graphic designs that resonate with voters. This fellowship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a political campaign and contribute to a meaningful cause.
This is part-time position (15-20 hours a week). The position will conclude the last week of June, with a possibility of extension through November 5th, 2025.
Responsibilities:
Create Visual Content: Design compelling graphics for social media (Facebook, Instagram, X, TikTok), website, email, and print materials
Assist with Photo and Video Editing: Edit and enhance photos and videos for use in campaign materials
Maintain Brand Consistency: Ensure all design materials adhere to the campaign's visual identity and brand guidelines
Collaborate with the Campaign Team: Work closely with the campaign manager, field director, and candidate to develop and implement design strategies
Manage Design Assets: Organize and maintain a library of design files
Adapt Designs for Multiple Platforms: Optimize designs for various screen sizes and print formats
Stay Updated on Design Trends: Research and incorporate current design trends and best practices into campaign materials
Qualifications:
College students, graduate students, or recent graduates (2-3 years post-grad) are encouraged to apply
Experience with Canva
Experience with social media design and content creation
Strong understanding of design principles and typography
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Passion for politics and community involvement
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) is a plus
Experience with video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, or DaVinci Resolve, is a plus
