JOB DESCRIPTION

The Sanchez 2025 team is looking for people who are passionate about organizing and uplifting the 14th Council District communities in The Bronx. The ideal team member is comfortable working on a team that centers community, voicing creative ideas in a group environment, interested in supporting the group as a whole, and is excited to be a part of a team that will take significant risks (and make mistakes!) as it pursues unconventional approaches.

 

Volunteer Coordinator

 

Purpose/Summary:

The Volunteer Coordinator will report directly to the Campaign Manager and will advance the organizational goals for the campaign, primarily ensuring the campaign gets its message out through direct voter contact. This role will be ideal for someone who has experience in high intensity environments, able to translate data into performance, and who enjoys setting and accomplishing lofty goals. 

 

Duties: The Volunteer Coordinator’s primary role is to assist the Campaign Manager in building a volunteer-based voter contact operation. As with all facets of this campaign, the Volunteer Coordinator will play a key part in educating the public on the issues that Pierina stands on and why they are important to the district. The Volunteer Coordinator is also tasked with identifying as many IDs in the district and in mobilizing their support for a vote and involvement in the campaign. Efforts this role will be responsible for in a team-based environment include petitions, voter registration, census education, collaborative issues-based canvassing, an extended phone banking operation, GOTV,, and organizing community events.

 

Responsibilities 

  • Recruiting, training, managing and sustaining a strong volunteer operation 

  • Setting and achieving aggressive goals, monitoring progress, and adjusting course as needed

  • Assisting the Campaign Manager in organizing grassroots events for community building and voter outreach

  • Building and maintaining relationships with community leaders 

  • Communicating needs to the campaign manager and the rest of the team

  • Ensuring data integrity 

  • Commitment to establishing a culture of respect and community 

  • Other responsibilities as required to execute an effective field operation

 

Job Requirements, Qualifications

  • Fluency in Spanish a must

  • Familiarity or residency within Council District 14 or the Northwest Bronx preferred

  • Past experience with a political campaign preferred

  • Have a passion for progressive politics and the power of political organizing

  • Familiarity with digital organizing tools and tactics 

  • Experience developing, training and empowering volunteers

  • Be adaptable and willing to change plans on the fly 

  • Be highly organized with an ability to manage multiple ongoing projects 

  • Be willing and able to work long hours including nights and weekends on a regular basis

  • Excellent verbal and written skills
