Description
The Pennsylvania Senate Democratic Campaign Committee (PA SDCC) seeks an enthusiastic and people-driven applicant to serve as Volunteer Coordinator for the 2026 election cycle. The PA SDCC is the campaign arm of the Pennsylvania Senate Democratic Caucus and is dedicated to electing Democrats to the Pennsylvania State Senate.
This is a full-time, cycle-based position with benefits, based in a key district across the Commonwealth. Candidates must be willing to relocate to their assigned district upon acceptance of a job offer.
About the Role
The Volunteer Coordinator is the engine behind one of the most important parts of any winning campaign: a deep, committed volunteer base. This role owns the volunteer pipeline end-to-end — recruitment, onboarding, training, scheduling, retention, and recognition — and works hand-in-glove with the field team to make sure every shift is staffed and every volunteer feels valued.
Reporting to the Organizing Director, the Volunteer Coordinator will build relationships with supporters across the district, turn one-time signups into repeat shifts, and create a culture where volunteering with the campaign is meaningful, organized, and fun.
Essential Job Functions
Build and execute the campaign's volunteer recruitment plan, including sign-up drives, community outreach, partner organization coordination, and digital recruitment.
Manage the full volunteer lifecycle: intake, onboarding, training, shift scheduling, follow-up, and re-engagement.
Staff canvasses, phone banks, text banks, lit drops, and community events with reliable, well-trained volunteers.
Run regular volunteer trainings and orientations — both 1:1 and in group settings.
Develop and maintain a volunteer leader pipeline, identifying and elevating high-capacity volunteers into team lead and host roles.
Maintain accurate volunteer data in NGP VAN/Votebuilder and Mobilize, including shift attendance, contact information, and engagement history.
Build a culture of recognition through thank-yous, milestone shoutouts, volunteer appreciation events, and consistent personal follow-up.
Represent the campaign at community events, coalition meetings, and partner gatherings to recruit new supporters.
Provide weekly reporting to the Organizing Director on recruitment, retention, and shift fill rates.
Requirements
One cycle of campaign or organizing experience preferred; equivalent experience in community organizing, advocacy, labor, or volunteer-driven nonprofits considered.
Genuine enthusiasm for working with people — recruiting them, training them, and keeping them engaged through the highs and lows of a campaign.
Strong interpersonal skills, including active listening, follow-through, and the ability to communicate professionally and empathetically across diverse communities.
Strong organizational skills; ability to track dozens of moving parts (and dozens of volunteers) without dropping the ball.
Comfort with feedback and a willingness to learn quickly in a fast-moving environment.
Familiarity with NGP VAN/Votebuilder and Mobilize preferred; willingness to learn required.
Must have a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, a smartphone, and a computer.
Willingness to work irregular hours, evenings, and weekends.
Experience working in Pennsylvania is a plus, but not required.

Benefits: Comprehensive health insurance package including medical, dental, and vision coverage.
Start Date: Rolling, with earliest starts in June 2026
End Date: November 15th, 2026, unless otherwise specified
