JOB DESCRIPTION

The great swing state of Wisconsin often feels like the center of the political and public policy universe, especially during an election year. Major outcomes from abortion rights to voting access often ride on just how many Wisconsinites decide to stay home or show up at the polls. A lot of pressure, right?

Luckily, Wisconsin has a super power: it’s young voters. Over 300,000 college students call Wisconsin home – when we organize on campuses, students vote.

Building on work started during the April 2023 Supreme Court Election, we’re building a scrappy and innovative organization that will organize and inspire thousands of college students to vote in the 2024 elections.

What Will You Do?

The Voter Access Associate will play a crucial role in The Wisco Project’s mission to improve voter access. This role involves managing and implementing voter outreach initiatives, coordinating voter education programs, and working directly with communities, universities, organizations, and election administrators to address and overcome barriers to voting.

  • Assist students with the voter registration process, including providing guidance on how to complete and submit registration forms. Organize and facilitate voter registration drives on college campuses and in other key areas.

  • Develop and deliver educational workshops and materials about voting rights, election procedures, and deadlines. Create engaging content for digital and print media to inform students about the importance of voting and how to participate.

  • Address voter access issues and provide solutions to overcome obstacles faced by students.

  • All other duties as assigned.

Who Are You?

A successful candidate for this role will:

  • Previous experience in voter outreach, voter protection, community organizing, or a related field is preferred.

  • Strong understanding of voting rights and election processes. Excellent communication and organizational skills are essential.

  • Passionate about civic engagement, highly motivated, and able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups.

We are an equal opportunity employer committed to a diverse, inclusive, and equitable workplace. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, creed, religion, national or ethnic origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, disability, veteran status or any other protected category under local, state or federal law.

We see diversity of all kinds as essential to doing our work well. We strive to build a team that reflects the diverse composition of America itself. We strongly encourage applications from structurally marginalized and under-represented communities and experiences to apply.
