The Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor (DFL) Party is hiring a full-time Voter Protection Director for the 2026 cycle. The Voter Protection Director is a crucial role that will develop, implement, and manage a robust program to expand access to voting in MN. We are seeking someone who, at their core, is fueled by the idea that all Minnesotans should be able to access their right to vote. The Voter Protection Director is a senior level position.
The Voter Protection Director will serve as a resource on state voting and election administration law and collaborate closely with other departments to ensure voters have easy access to accurate information on where, when, and how to vote.
The Voter Protection Director reports to the Coordinated Campaign Director, interviews will be scheduled on a rolling basis, with an ideal start date of March 9th . This position is based in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Responsibilities:
**Planning, Implementing, and Reporting: **Develop and lead the statewide voter protection and access program. Develop metrics and goals for the state voter protection programs, including plans to scale those programs as needed
**Manage Voter Protection Team: **Recruit, manage, coach, and train a team of voter protection staff
**Stakeholder Engagement: **Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including election administration officials, elected officials, community leaders, and volunteers
**Volunteer Recruitment and Training: **Build a strong volunteer operation to identify and respond to voting barriers as they arise, including through running a voter protection hotline and poll observer program, with volunteers to cover various languages
**Support Organizing and Voter Registration Efforts: **Work with General Elections Teams and other Program Directors to support turnout and to ensure voters have easy access to accurate information on where, when, and how to vote
**Data Management: **Utilize rigorous standards for data collection in NGP/VAN and LBJ
**Voting Rights Resource: **Serve as a state resource on voting rights as well as triage and troubleshoot voting related issues across the state. Liaise closely with local counsel.

Requirements:
Experience recruiting and managing staff and/or large scale volunteer operations
Superb project management skills
Demonstrated ability to lead complex and diverse teams to achieve ambitious results.
Strong lens and judgment on issues of race and equity
Preferred but not required:
A Juris Doctorate
Familiarity with VAN/Voterbuilder and/or LBJ
Field or political organizing experience
Minnesota experience or ties to the state
