Overview
Dream Defenders is hiring a team of part-time Fellows to help the organization in the success of
its statewide youth voter registration and voter education program for 2024 elections. They will
be responsible for day to day voter registration to engage and turn out young Black and Brown
voters so we can build the political power of our generation in order to transform Florida. They
will work in a fast-paced campaign environment. They will recruit and train volunteers, organize
campus voter registration events and engage youth voters at community events. This is an
in-person position that will require travel throughout an assigned turf. This is an exempt,
temporary and part time position.
Supervision
The Fellows reports to the Voter Engagement Manager
Location
Broward, Miami-Dade and Duval counties
Responsibilities
● Must be willing to dedicate +20 hours a week to collecting Voter Registration forms and
pledge cards.
● Recruit and train volunteers for voter registration teams. Provide constructive feedback
and troubleshooting support when issues occur.
● Develop subject matter expertise in the voter registration process and workflows
● Maintain high accuracy of data collection; ensure that our voter registration program is
accurately registering voters and maintaining the highest standards of integrity, form
completion, and data quality. Investigate and document any errors or QC concerns.
● Meet and exceed benchmarks for voter contact and volunteer recruitment.
● Communicate all pertinent on-the-ground information to, and provide timely response to
requests.
● Ensure properly performing and collecting voter registration forms within their role and
maintain accurate and reliable data
● Complete daily and weekly reporting as part of metrics-based performance evaluation.
● Must be able to hit metric goals on a weekly and quarterly basis and work well under
pressure gathering voter registration on college campuses.
● Additional responsibilities as assigned.
Experience
● Experience or knowledge in grassroots community, labor or electoral organizing
programs.
● Experience in programs that include volunteer outreach (canvassing, phone banking,
house visits, etc.), training volunteers, monitoring goals, developing strategies and
tactics, and forming alliances with other groups.
● Excellent organizational and time management skills and the ability to prioritize and
effectively manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced work environment. Creative
problem-solver who is resourceful during challenging or new situations.
● Demonstrated awareness of one’s own cultural identity, views about differences, and the
ability to learn and build on varying cultural and community norms.
● An understanding of racial justice and the urgency of confronting institutional racism and
inequity.
● Ability to work evenings and weekends to attend community events.
● Time management will be essential in this role given strict reporting deadlines.
● Must share our organizational commitment to centering racial justice and equity in the
work we do and ensuring an inclusive organizational culture.
● Must share our strong belief in everyday peoples’ ability to affect change and in their
fundamental right to be heard by decision-makers and to influence the policies and
decisions that affect their community.
● Ensures the integrity of the organization's voter registration system.
Required Qualifications
● Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills
● Access to laptop and cell phone
● Ability to interact with people with a wide variety of backgrounds.
● Experience with or knowledge of VAN/miniVAN, EveryAction, Google Business Suite,
and Google Sheets/Excel, BLOCKS is highly preferred but not required.
● Spanish/Haitian Kreyol/English bilingual is a skill we value, but it is not a requirement.
● Willingness to work long hours and weekends
● Must be accountable for your work
● Full vaccination against COVID-19
Covid Considerations
● All employees must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, and be willing to submit to
regular testing. All employees and volunteers are required to wear masks at all times,
indoors and out due to FL's high transmission status.
Physical Demands
This job will require travel, development of reports and carrying materials/boxes (Up to 20lbs).
Pay: This is an hourly position at $20/hr.
