JOB DESCRIPTION

About The Outreach Team

The Outreach Team is a premier national field firm. We partner with organizations working to solve some of the biggest problems facing our society -- from protecting human rights to fighting climate change -- and help them build the resources they need to make an impact. We are a people-powered enterprise; our campaigns are effective because we hire diverse teams of talented people, invest in our staff, and treat them well.

We are hiring Lead & Deputy Directors to manage our voter mobilization office. Deputy Field Directors will recruit, train, and manage a team of canvassers to mobilize groups of voters. Directors will work within their team to build an office to scale from the ground up. All directors are expected to train staff in the field while leading by example themselves; they must also communicate long and short term goals to staff and manage campaign reporting. The Deputy Directors manage field staff and Team Leads and report to the Lead Director.

For these “Vote Tripling” projects, we are partnering with major national progressive groups to galvanize turnout in the biggest cities in swing states. We will be running large scale site-based canvassing campaigns in each of these target cities aimed at engaging voters on the streets. Our canvassers will encourage these voters to take actions that mobilize their friend groups to vote in the upcoming election.

We are hiring immediately. This position will run through the election, with possibilities to extend.

Locations: Allentown, Easton, Philadelphia & State College, PA. Strong preference for in-state candidates, short-term travel may be required.

Canvass Management Responsibilities:

  • With your fellow Directors, manage a team of 25-50 hourly staff who will be collecting signatures for a state-wide ballot initiative

  • Set goals and hold staff accountable

  • Train and provide ongoing motivation and support to staff

  • Identify, promote, and train a leadership team

  • Build a diverse team where staff feel respected, while fostering a culture of equity and justice

  • Implement quality control measures to ensure integrity of the work

  • Go in the field yourself a few days per week to collect signatures, train staff, and help drive office goals

  • Maintain a healthy and safe working environment for all staff

  • Develop strategic plans to reach registered voters in assigned locations

  • Manage administrative duties, including reporting data, record keeping, processing payroll, and distribution of materials

Qualifications:

Must have

  • Leadership experience, ability to motivate, grow, and manage a large team.

  • Eagerness to lead from the front and canvass several days a week.

  • Extreme attention to detail and a proven ability to instill that quality in others.

  • Self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills.

  • Strong passion for community organizing and fostering civic engagement.

  • Track record of equity and inclusion.

  • Ability to work long hours, including evenings and weekends.

  • Local knowledge/experience

Salary: The salary range for this position is $1,250 - $1,600 per week. We offer a generous benefits package, including paid vacation and sick leave, health insurance, and hands-on training. At the end of the campaign, there may be opportunities for advancement and bonuses.

At The Outreach Team, we prioritize equity and inclusion. We are an equal opportunity employer and we strongly encourage Black, indigenous, people of color, women, people with previous felony convictions, members of the LGBTQIA+ community, and others who identify with underrepresented groups to apply.
