JOB DESCRIPTION

Overview

Dream Defenders seeks a highly motivated, detail-oriented person to join our team to administer

Blocks & the database that we use to track Voter Registration. The primary roles of this position

are A) to help administer the Blocks database and manage the quality control process which

includes tracking and verifying voter registration data. B) This role will also have a leading role

in maintaining our voter registration data and training, and supporting our organizers as they

use Blocks and other tools and technology to improve the efficacy of their voter registration

work. This is a temporary part time position with an anticipated start date in mid June and an

end date of November 8th.

Supervision

This position reports to the Voter Engagement Manager and the National Political Director.

Location

Florida - Ideally candidates will be based in either; Duval, Broward, or Miami-Dade Counties

Responsibilities

● State level administrator for Blocks, the database State Voices Florida uses to track

voter registration information.

● Creating user accounts, managing the access of different staff, and monitoring usage of

Blocks.

● Administer our voter registration program at the county level and internally verify their

forms.

● Visually inspect voter registration forms & flags.

● Undergo a Phone Verification process & report fraudulent activity, disconnected

numbers, and any potential errors within Blocks.

● Providing training (individual and group) and technical support to staff on Blocks, Voter

Registration Quality Control, and Adobe Acrobat.

● Hold weekly one on one partner check ins with the Voter Engagement Manager and/or

National Political Director.

● Pulling regular reports about voter registration activity on a weekly basis.

● Develop “how-to” one-pagers / videos on Blocks, Voter Registration Quality Control best

practices and external tracking systems.

● Create and maintain documentation for the Data & Program Department.

● Monitor the data transfer and raise alarms when drop off rates are below the comfort

level of the team.

● Support on scanning and redacting training, flags and resolutions for staff

● Lead on holding staff accountable for addressing/resolving problems with quality control

that come up in the phone/visual verification process.

● Build a re-training curriculum that is responsive to Quality Control trends.

● Train staff to understand quality control flags, problematic forms, and fraud.

● Support staff through investigation processes.

● Some in-state travel required.

● Execute any assigned duties during book closing visits, as needed.

● Provide on-site and in-person trainings on programmatic aspects that relate to tools,

 

reporting, and quality control

● Kickoff/regional/ongoing trainings: Lead and co-facilitate in-person EVC trainings

scheduled throughout the cycle.

● Notify and guide partner QC staff in expediting form deliveries throughout the entirety of

the program.

● Other duties as assigned.

● Ability to work well under pressure, be detail-oriented and meet deadlines.

● Strong interpersonal and communication skills, specifically including the ability to

translate technical instructions into easy-to-follow language for non-technical audiences.

● Patience working with people with a wide range of skill levels.

● Excellent organizational, time-management, oral and written communications skills.

Preferred Qualifications

● 1-2 cycles experience in labor, political or community organizing and political campaigns

preferred.

● Past experience with voter registration preferred.

● Strong Microsoft Excel skills preferred.

● Experience working in coalition with partners or experience working in diverse

communities, particularly in communities of color.

● Reliable access to transportation.

● Bilingual in English and Spanish/Kreyol (or another language) a plus.

● Some (any) experience working with the Voter Activation Network (VAN) and/or NGP

EveryAction or other databases

Pay: This is an hourly position at $25/hr.
