JOB DESCRIPTION

Overview:

Blue Wave America is seeking motivated individuals to join our team as full-time Field Organizers for the 2026 election cycle, leading the effort to drive turnout in the rural counties of North Carolina.

Field Organizers will work to elect Democrats up and down the ballot and will be responsible for implementing an aggressive field plan and managing the GOTV operation in rural North Carolina. In addition, Field Organizers will be responsible for engaging in relational organizing and deep canvassing strategies by cultivating relationships with relational volunteers and assisting with regional events.

Field Organizers will report directly to the Regional Field Director. This is a hybrid position requiring in-person travel throughout the Mountain Region of North Carolina, which includes Avery County, Cherokee County, Clay County, Graham County, Haywood County, Jackson County, Macon County, Madison County, McDowell County, Mitchell County, Polk County, Swain County, Transylvania County, and Yancey County. Candidates with prior personal or professional experience in rural North Carolina are strongly encouraged to apply.

This position is classified as non-exempt and will be compensated at $4,000 per month, paid in installments twice monthly. Benefits include 100% employer-paid premiums for medical, dental, and vision insurance. Also included is a cell-phone stipend in the amount of $50 each month. Assigned overtime will be required for this position and paid at time and a half of the hourly rate. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis. This full-time, temporary position is based in North Carolina and ends on November 15, 2026.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implementing all aspects of the field program in the assigned region.

  • Coordinating and participating in direct voter contact programs to persuade and mobilize voters including phonebanking, door-knocking, and textbanking.

  • Recruiting, training, and managing volunteers and interns.

  • Meeting weekly voter contact and volunteer recruitment goals.

  • Building strong relationships with relational volunteers and volunteer event hosts, having strong 1:1s, and facilitating relational voter contact.

  • Representing Blue Wave America with professionalism at designated events.

Qualifications and Desirables:

  •  Great interpersonal skills — ability to listen well and communicate effectively.

  •  Strong time management and organizational skills.

  •  Adept at relationship-building with volunteers and voters.

  •  Willingness to work campaign hours, including nights and weekends.

  •  Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.

  •  Experience volunteering or working for campaigns is a plus, but it is not required.

  •  Valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, and reliable access to a vehicle, mobile phone, and laptop.

  • Strong commitment to Democratic politics and ideals, and electing Democratic candidates.

Women, people of color, LGBTQ+ individuals, and individuals with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply. Studies have shown that folks with these backgrounds are less likely to apply for jobs unless they believe they meet every requirement. We are most interested in finding the best candidate for the job, and that candidate may come from a less traditional background. We may consider an equivalent combination of knowledge, skills, education, and experience to meet minimum qualifications. If you are interested in applying, we encourage you to think broadly about your background and skill set for the role.
