JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Summary:

Somos Votantes/Somos PAC is seeking a dynamic mid level Program Manager to join our team. A successful candidate will play a key role in developing, planning and implementing state programs and goals, understanding the state legislative and political landscapes while working closely with organizations and individuals in-state and nationally. The Program Manager will also work with the Somos Team to grow the Somos’ organizational brand in the state by building and maintaining a strong and engaged network of organizations and individuals. This position is based in Wisconsin and requires some travel around the state and at times travel nationally. This position reports to the National Partnership & Program Director.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program Planning and Implementation

  • Under direction of the National Partnership & Program Director, identify and create Wisconsin specific program work plans, including developing metrics of success and monitoring progress towards goals.

  • Track, maintain, and report out on Wisconsin project & program metrics, collateral and data on various weekly internal and external calls.

  • Responsible for developing and executing quarterly community events and bringing them to fruition. Additionally, will maintain event plans and budgets while effectively communicating with Somos Team members to inform them on relevant updates and event needs.

  • Community Leadership and Outreach

  • Responsible for identifying, cultivating, and maintaining strong individual and organizational relationships with a broad range of coalitions and grassroots contacts that align with state specific issues and/or electoral programs in Wisconsin.

  • Identify and hold a variety of 1:on:1 meetings, group presentations, and general community outreach to community members, coalition partners, and coalition leaders to educate and engage community members around Somos Wisconsin priorities.

  • Identify and participate in community tabling & community events to promote Somos Votantes programs. Additionally, attend and support events of Somos coalition partners and allies including attending other coalition meetings and trainings in Wisconsin.

  • Update, maintain, and report on the status of in-state individual and organizational relationships with aligned organizations and leaders. This will be achieved by attending, capturing notes, and reporting out on various in-state and national stakeholder meetings and conferences, including a focus on partner coalitions such as America Votes.

  • Volunteer Coordination and Engagement

  • Under supervision of the National Partnership & Program Director, develop, and implement strategies to build a large volunteer and/or coalition network, with a focus on distributed organizing tactics, training volunteers, and achieving organizational goals.

  • Conduct weekly phone calls to follow up, recruit, and retain volunteers previously identified from community events, canvassing efforts, and other lead generating avenues.

  • Update and maintain volunteer contact list by utilizing CRM systems such as the Voter Action Network (VAN).

  • Interdepartmental Collaboration and Communication

  • Working collaboratively with Somos’ existing staff and consultants on areas of focus work including; research, digital media, and data collecting

  • Work in collaboration with the National Communications and Media team to respond to media opportunities and, when needed, participate in media interviews for Somos with a goal of celebrating our work and impact with Latino voters. In addition provide materials from Wisconsin events, share partner social media and information to maintain a web and social media presence.

  • Manage and oversee the daily operational and administrative components of Wisconsin programs; which can include submitting reports, emails, data input, and updating other work products on a weekly basis. Develop, monitor, and maintain departmental systems and processes.

  • Campaign Reporting & Planning

  • Identify, track, and report on any and all legislative developments that are relevant to Wisconsin specific programs. 

  • Identify, track, and report on political dynamics to understand the political legislative and electoral landscape in Wisconsin.

  • Other responsibilities and duties as assigned

 

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated commitment to the organization's mission and values.

  • At least three to five years of experience in progressive political campaigns, progressive non-profits or similar organizations (with a campaign focus), or similar transferable experience and a minimum two years of project management experience.

  • Must have a valid driver license, reliable transportation, and active car insurance.

  • Strong attention to detail - Strong organizational and project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal and can support the creation and development of written Wisconsin products.

  • Strong leadership skills with ability to motivate and lead project teams, while also being a team player.

  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with internal/external teams.

  • Experience developing and maintaining credible and productive relationships with elected officials, coalition partners, community leaders and volunteers.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with changing priorities and timelines.

  • Has experience working in Google Suite (Google Sheets, Google Slides, ect) or Microsoft Suite (Excel, Power Point, ect)

  • Spanish language proficiency is highly desirable but not required.

  • Must be able to travel within the entire service area and work evenings and weekends as required.
