Job Description

Blake Gendebien for Congress is looking for driven and dedicated individuals focused on building relationships between volunteers, activists, partners and turning people out to vote! The fellowship program aims to get young people involved in politics through digital organizing in New York’s 21st Congressional District and inspiring others to take action for the most competitive Congressional race in the country!  This role will last through the special election, likely in July of 2025.

 

Fellows will gain valuable organizing experience and professional development and will play a critical role in the future of New York’s 21st Congressional District. Young people in and out of the district are encouraged to apply -- no prior organizing experience is necessary! 

 

Meet Blake

 

Blake Gendebien is a husband, father of three boys, second-generation dairy farmer, small business owner, and Vice Chair of the Cooperative Board of Agri-Mark. He was born and raised on a farm in the North Country and he’s been deeply rooted in this community his whole life – as a JV basketball coach, Lisbon Central School Board Member, and founder of a non-profit supporting kids with pediatric cancer and their families. Required Skills, Abilities, and Experience 

  • Strong interpersonal skills, and desire to organize for New York’s 21st Congressional District

  • Reliable access to internet, and a cellphone

  • Strong communication skills - must be able to speak with and persuade all kinds of voters

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment 

 

Responsibilities

  • Engage voters through phone calls, textbanking, trainings, and community events

  • Recruit, train, and manage volunteers to participate in direct voter contact to build a sustainable volunteer operation

  • Participating in training sessions on a variety of campaign skills 

  • Working with other student leaders in the program to host virtual events

  • Learning about current events and issues throughout New York’s 21st Congressional District
