The Youth Organizer organizes and directs grassroots advocacy initiatives on local campuses and acts as a liaison between Planned Parenthood South Atlantic (PPSAT) volunteers, campus groups, and university staff. The organizer will work directly with local and national Planned Parenthood teams to develop and execute campaign plans in North Carolina. The Youth Organizer will use strategic local initiatives to deepen youth engagement at the local and state levels.
Passionate **pro-abortion activist **for reproductive freedom
Political organizer, with experience (2+ years paid/volunteer) in grassroots organizing, canvassing, phone banking, volunteer/leadership development, and political/issue campaigns
Experienced in **working authentically with diverse communities **around issue, policy, and and/or electoral campaigns and initiatives
Experienced with campus organizing activities/events
Demonstrated cultural competence and sensitivity
Deeply knowledgeable of diversity and inclusion in application to this work
Deeply knowledgeable of systems of government at the local and state level
Experienced with volunteer management
Skilled and excited to reduce abortion stigma, impact policy, as well as public sentiment on reproductive health, rights, and justice issues
Capable of explaining public policies in plain language
Talented interpersonal communicator, both verbal and written
Highly adaptable and resourceful
Skilled in delegating within a team
Proficient with basic computer tasks
Able to travel frequently throughout NC, and occasionally to other affiliate service areas
Experienced with VAN/EveryAction
Experienced with issue advocacy
Previously involved with Planned Parenthood South Atlantic
Knowledgable of key reproductive health rights and justice issues
In collaboration with the Constituency Organizing Manager (COM) and PPFA, develop and oversee a program that engages and mobilizes youth (18-30) in North Carolina.
Build deep and intentional relationships with local universities, like-minded organizations, and leaders who can support cross-collaboration efforts with Planned Parenthood.
Identify, train and mentor young leaders on college campuses in developing Generation Action (PPGA) chapters and support students in campaign and program engagement.
Engage youth in grassroots advocacy, including but not limited to phone banking, canvassing, public testimony, and events
Develop and mobilize a strong volunteer base and cultivate young leaders through direct community outreach, grassroots field work, voter contact, and leadership development programs.
Recruit, train, support, and mobilize activists in targeted geographic areas on local, state and national reproductive health issues.
Identify and execute opportunities for youth across the service region to engage in advocacy and build leadership skills for reproductive freedom and sexual healthcare
Build organizing capacity and grassroots partnerships to advance state and federal policy initiatives. Work with coalition partners to leverage PP’s position as an organizing powerhouse.
In collaboration with the Constituency Organizing Manager, provide support, feedback, and training to Organizers as it relates to Youth Organizing across the affiliate.
In collaboration with the Deputy Director and COM, develop and implement Planned Parenthood Votes! South Atlantic’s youth organizing electoral program to engage and turnout youth voters.
Identify community needs within the scope of PPSAT's mission and independently develop and execute work plans to address those needs in collaboration with community partners
Conduct legislative advocacy during legislative sessions to facilitate policy/organizing collaborations with the Director of Public Affairs, help connect constituents with elected officials, stay up-to-date on legislative strategy, and gain experience building relationships with legislators and other key validators.
Manage, track, and report on grants related to youth organizing under the purview of this position.
Plan and execute rapid response events, including large-scale events
Develop and implement digital organizing activities. Manage activist database and ensure accurate and timely input of program data.
Support voter education and engagement, including training election volunteers, maintaining relationships with candidate campaigns, and managing voter education events (e.g. phone banks).
Manage all aspects of community outreach, including materials development, volunteer recruitment, training, and execution of all civic engagement activities.
Schedule:
Full-Time Position; M-F ,~40/week
Requires frequent night & weekend work
Hybrid Work Style; some in-office days required
Candidate must be based in Raleigh or Charlotte
Travel required; frequently throughout NC and occasionally to other affiliate service areas

Compensation:
PPSAT's compensation philosophy is based on equity and transparency. Each job at PPSAT is assigned a pay grade built on market data. For an individual coming into PPSAT, we set a pay generally between the minimum and the midpoint of the pay grade. Starting offers are determined by the candidate's relevant experience and internal equity within the pay grade. The hiring range for this position is $25.60 to $29.95 per hour.
